Kelsie Liechty, Artist - Tyson Murphy
Tyson Murphy
I actually just learned about Tyson a couple days ago. He is the lead artist at Blizzard Entertainment and he has wonderful characters and beautifully rendered pieces.
Artist Sharing - The Video Game Side
Yeah, I'm gonna be that nerd who posts twice.
But! I wanted to post some various art and designs from some of my favorite games. We all know Mario, Sonic, Pikachu, and Link, but I thought I'd throw in some art and designs from some other games we don't often hear about.
Professor Layton

Professor Layton
A puzzle-solving series of games revolving around a professor and his apprentice. I always loved the designs of the characters and their fun shape language.
Ghost Trick
This game is lesser known. The story starts out with a character named Sissel, who you discover to have died at the very beginning of the story. You are left to use his ghost to possess objects and animals to find out the mystery behind your death. The character designs are wild and eccentric. I've never seen hair shapes that crazy.
Ace Attorney
One of my all time favorite game series, Ace Attorney follows the adventures of defense attorney, Phoenix Wright. In a visual novel setting, you defend your clients by pressing witnesses and their testimonies while exposing their contradictions in court. I have showcased the art books for these games before, but I love this series enough to show it again. The color and costume design is some of my favorite that I've seen.
Okami
Loosely based on Japanese legend, Okami follows the story of Amaterasu, goddess of the sun manifested in the form of a white wolf. You are equipped with a 'celestial brush,' a paintbrush used to restore, rejuvenate, and protect the land, as Amaterasu travels the land of Nippon to fight off the impending evil. The art in this game is fascinating in how it imitates the style of traditional Japanese artwork and brush strokes.
Strider
A lesser known series, Strider stars a mysterious assassin by the name of Hiryu. Its first game debuted in 1989 as an arcade platformer, with a sequel releasing in 2000, and a remake in 2014. While better known for its action and high-paced gameplay, Strider has gone through numerous art styles. My particular favorite comes from Strider 2, but the 2014 remake does include some nicely rendered backgrounds.
Mother Series
The Mother series is also a lesser known Nintendo series. It stars a different cast of characters in each game. Its an RPG game with wacky enemies, humorous dialogue, but lots of heart. I find charm in the simple character sprites and colorful environments.

Kelsie Liechty Character Line-up
Working on the rest of the color right now.
This crew was based around my adventurer (the girl).
Girl: The honor student. Intellectual and methodical. Sticks to the book.
Boy: A good student but self-reliant and values intuition.
Rodent: The black sheep among his tribe. A calm peaceful soul that would rather live his life in floral nature than stuck in the mines.
Ginger Dall - Assignment 12 Lineup
So my story comes from a world of sea horses. The story revolves around the two left characters, who are best friends and old war buddies. Both have lost their wives, but find enough fulfillment in their friendships and families. The yellow one (Ol' George) is more grumpy/gruff, and the green one (Uncle Pete) is more "jolly", always looking for a "spot of good fun". Ol' George has a daughter, (the pink one). She is married to the block of a fellow (blue), and they have a son who is a bit of a tyrant (like a mini tyrant toddler), though he can be sweet at times. Uncle Pete is rather fond of his buddy's grandson, saying things like "look at the little tyke!"
Back in the day, George and Pete hunted tiger fish in the Indian Ocean, though tiger fish were their main predators. A new tiger fish has begun plaguing their community. Ol' George's son-in-law is also a soldier, but George is determined that age and experience will rule out.
