Girl: The honor student. Intellectual and methodical. Sticks to the book.

Boy: A good student but self-reliant and values intuition.

Rodent: The black sheep among his tribe. A calm peaceful soul that would rather live his life in floral nature than stuck in the mines.

Ginger Dall - Assignment 12 Lineup

So my story comes from a world of sea horses. The story revolves around the two left characters, who are best friends and old war buddies. Both have lost their wives, but find enough fulfillment in their friendships and families. The yellow one (Ol' George) is more grumpy/gruff, and the green one (Uncle Pete) is more "jolly", always looking for a "spot of good fun". Ol' George has a daughter, (the pink one). She is married to the block of a fellow (blue), and they have a son who is a bit of a tyrant (like a mini tyrant toddler), though he can be sweet at times. Uncle Pete is rather fond of his buddy's grandson, saying things like "look at the little tyke!"

Back in the day, George and Pete hunted tiger fish in the Indian Ocean, though tiger fish were their main predators. A new tiger fish has begun plaguing their community. Ol' George's son-in-law is also a soldier, but George is determined that age and experience will rule out.

Characters 

Tuck the Rabbit — Friendly, confident, cheerful. One day the hedgehog was having a terrible day and he invited him to dinner. That's how they became great friends. 

Hugo the Hedgehog—Calm and cheerful. Likes to be comfortable, and a little reserved. Friendly. The protagonist of the story. When he gets grouchy he becomes more reserved. 

Mouse — A sneaky little guy who stole the Hugo's food when the Hugo was almost run over by the geese

Goose — This guy represents the rest of the gaggle. He doesn't mean any harm and has a good heart, he just is kind of klutzy and not really thinking about how his actions affect other animals. 

Squirrel — This is one of the unfriendly animals who passes by Hugo and his spilled basket of food. He looks down on Hugo for being so grouchy and doesn't help. 

Assignment #12 – Ashley Sanborn

Premise: I wanted to draw birds, so for contrast I went with a tired old owl who just wants some sleep, and her cheery new neighbor who never stops singing. The silhouettes are ideas for some other bird friends they might have.

Design: The owl was a hard balance to strike between angry and tired, but ultimately I went with a big, bottom-heavy shape for that droopy feeling, and some eyebrows for the annoyed look. (I think her personality comes across better in the original sketch.) The songbird has a thinner, more gestural shape with some frilly bits to convey energy and happiness. I also used brighter colors in her design, and darker, less saturated ones for the owl.

The snake - Goofy, fun-loving, a bit empty-headed, but a great sidekick and friend

The...... unknown creature "Lucky" - Our protagonist, meant to be confused for anything from fox to cat to weasel, adventurous, but clearly not from around the neighborhood (escaped the Amazon after trappers lost their crate while traveling to the States, now posing as a house pet)

The poodle - Composed, arrogant, snobby, the rival to "Lucky"

The squirrel - Bubbly, lovey-dovey, plucky, in love with the poodle

The cat - Sassy, cool, and independent, meant to be the target of "Lucky's" affections

For this lineup, I decided to work on a character, The Sidekicker, and the people he meets.  The Sidekicker wants to be a super hero, but doesn't have powers or really know how to.  While following the city's main super hero one day, he discovers he cannot keep up to save the day and on his way to the help save the city, does good deeds for others.  The first girl is somebody around the same age who is cold, so the sidekicker gives her a jacket.  He rescues a cat from a tree for a little girl, and helps an old woman.  Those are the other characters.

Assignment #12- Character Lineup

In This Assignment You Will be Developing A Character Lineup - Showing your Knowledge of Shape Variation, Silhouette..... And Basically Everything we have done all semester.

You Will Be Developing 3 Characters Plus 2 more Silhouettes That will be a part of this Lineup = 5 Figures. (Silhouettes because we didn't have as much time this semester as planned).  ONE of these finished Characters MAY be based on a character you did in class OR may be completely new.  You will need to Design an ALL NEW Friend/villain/sidekick/Love interest/etc. to go with this character, Plus the two Silhouettes of additional characters that show how they would fit into the Lineup Shape-wise.

The 2 Finished Character Designs will need to be Finished and Clean (not a sketch) and in Color (can be simple)

Include A  Simple "Premis:" and "The Design:" about each of your two finished Designs.  In the Premis: tell us who your character is and what it's design needs to accomplish. in "The Design:" Tell us how you achieved this.  For an example of this, see the Croods Breakdown Post that we went over together in class.
