Natalie Hansen Assignment #5

Time Period: 1880s in the Netherlands
My character is a girl in the marketplace selling stroopwafels, a snack made of a thin waffle cut in half and filled with a caramelly syrup. The first stroopwafel was predicted to have been made in the late 18th century by a baker in Gouda. The poor often bought them because they were cheap; they were made of the leftover crumbs and spices from the bakery and sweetened with syrup.
